Higashi-Kawaguchi Station

Higashi-Kawaguchi Station (東川口駅, Higashi-Kawaguchi-eki^?) is a train station in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

History

The JR East Station was one of the original stations on JNR's Musashino Line which opened on April 1, 1973. It became an interchange station when the Saitama Rapid Railway opened on March 28, 2001.

Layout

There are two sections at this station.

• The JR section consists of an elevated island platform.
  • Track 1 serves trains to Minami-Urawa, Nishi-Kokubunji and Fuchū-Hommachi.
  • Track 2 serves trains to Minami-Koshigaya, Shim-Matsudo, Nishi-Funabashi, Tokyo and Kaihin-Makuhari.
• The Saitama Rapid Railway section consists of an underground island platform. There are orange platform screen doors.
  • Track 1 serves Urawa-Misono bound trains.
  • Track 2 serves trains to Hatogaya, Akabane-Iwabuchi, Meguro (via the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line) and Hiyoshi (via the Tōkyū Meguro Line).

The typical off-peak service on weekdays is:

• JR East
  • 5 trains per hour to Fuchū-Hommachi
  • 3 trains per hour to Minami-Funabashi
  • 2 trains per hour to Tokyo, running Musashino Rapid on the Keiyō Line (all stations to Maihama, then Shin-Kiba, Hatchōbori and Tokyo)
• Saitama Rapid Railway
  • 5 trains per hour to Urawa-Misono
  • 5 trains per hour to Shirokane-Takanawa, of which:
    • 3 continue to Hiyoshi, of which:
      • 1 runs express (all stations to Meguro, then Musashi-Koyama, Ōokayama, Den-en-Chōfu, Tamagawa, Musashi-Kosugi and Hiyoshi)
